The Bryan College men's basketball team hosted Southern Polytechnic State University, a NAIA Division I program, in the second game of the Bryan College Classic. The Lions scored the final three points of the game to send it into overtime. Bryan outscored Southern Poly 12-8 in overtime to win the game 84-80. The Lions are now 4-8 on the season.
The two teams swapped the lead three times and knotted the score twice in the first half. The Hornets led 38-31 at the break. In the second half, there were four lead changes and five ties. Down three, the Lions hit a basket to cut it to one with only one minute to play. Then with 19 seconds remaining, the Lions hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 72. The Hornets were able to get off a three point attempt but it did not fall, sending the game into overtime. In the overtime, Bryan jumped out on top 80-74 and was able to hold on for the win.
The Bryan College women's basketball team traveled to Columbia College (S.C.) today. The Lions led 30-29 at halftime. Bryan outscored their opponent 35-30 in the second half to win 65-59. The Lions are now 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the AAC.
Kristin Lane led the Lions with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Kelsey Brooks scored 10 points. Megan Billingsby finished with 9 points and 15 rebounds. Keila Formont recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds. Taylor Neuharth added 7 points.
