The Lions jumped out to an 11-5 lead, their largest of the game. However, the Scots rattled off 10 unanswered points to take the lead for the rest of the game. Down 33-30 with only 2:26 in the first half, the Lions gave up 12 straight points to close out the half and go into the locker room trailing 45-30. In the second half, Bryan cut the lead down to 7 points but that was as close as they would get.
The Lions shot 49.1% from the floor for the game, but the Scots shot an unbelievable 61.2%. Bryan hit all of their free throws but only went to the line 6 times. The Lions recorded 22 rebounds, 6 less than their opponent. Bryan turned the ball over 15 times, but was able to get Maryville to commit 18 turnovers.
Lavonte Henderson was the leading scorer for the game with 24 points. Dion Fair and Rob Riley added 14 points apiece. Fair had a game high 6 assists. Riley and Jerrod Allen each had a team high 6 rebounds.The Lions are now 3-9 overall. They play again this Friday and Saturday as they host the Bryan College Classic. On Friday, they will compete against Truett-McConnell College at 8:00pm ET. Then they will turn around and take on Shorter University on Saturday at 6:00pm ET.
