The Bryan College men's basketball team hosted their Classic over the weekend. The Lions lost their game on Friday to Selma University 63-60 and then lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Saturday 83-64.
On Friday night, the Lions trailed 31-27 at halftime. They outscored Selma 33-32 in the second half, but still lost by 3 points.
The Lions shot 33.3% from the floor, while Selma shot 42%. Bryan tallied 39 rebounds, and Selma recorded 51.
Brandon Cole led the Lions, scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Tim Fortenberry finished with 13 points for the game. Carrin Nash added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
On Saturday, Bryan scored first and kept the lead until there was 9:27 left in the first half. The Cougars went on a run and maintained control of the game for the remaining thirty minutes.
The Lions shot 39.7% from the floor, while the Cougars shot 53.3%. Bryan tallied 34 rebounds, 4 less than their opponent.
Brandon Cole and Carrin Nash led the Lions as they both scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Tim Fortenberry added 11 points. Jeff Long had 9 points.
The Lions are now 4-9 overall. They play again on Friday at Selma University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm ET.
