The Bryan College baseball team hosted Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday night in a single nine-inning game, a makeup for the games that were canceled on Saturday. The Lions scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead. Both teams crossed the plate once in the second inning. The Eagles tied the game in the third inning. In the fourth inning, the Lions scored two runs. The fifth inning saw both teams score a run. The sixth inning saw both teams cross the plate multiple times. The Eagles started by scoring three runs to take a 6-5 lead. However, the Lions scored two in the bottom of the inning to take the lead back and added another in the seventh to take an 8-6 lead which they held for the final score.
Blake Johnson led the Lions' offense with two runs batted in, two hits, and two runs scored. Tyler Latham finished with three RBI's and one hit. Cody Rhinehart recorded two hits and one RBI. Gatlin Curlee added one hit and one RBI.
John Cain started on the mound for the Lions. He gave up one earned and one hit in two innings of work. Josh Harris pitched the next three and one-third innings, giving up five runs and five hits. Hunter Tipton finished out the sixth inning and pitched the seventh and eighth. He gave up only one hit and no runs while striking out three batters and earning the win. Kenny Knudsen pitched the 9th inning, striking out two batters and giving up no hits or runs to earn the save.
The Lions are now 2-0 on the season. They play again on Thursday at home against University of Rio Grande to kick off the Bryan College Invitational. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET.
