The Bryan College men's basketball team competed against the Union College Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the AAC Tournament. The Lions won by a final score of 78-73. They move on to the semifinals on Friday.
The Lions jumped out to an 8-0 lead. They built their lead up to as many as 10 points. The Bulldogs came back and took a 22-21 lead. However, Bryan went into the break at halftime leading 28-25. The Lions led the entire second half. Their largest lead of the half was 11 points. The Bulldogs were able to cut the lead down to just one point, but the Lions were able to hold them off to get the win and advance to the next round.
The Lions shot 38.5% from the floor for the game, while the Bulldogs shot 42.6%. Bryan lost the rebounding battle by two but won the turnover battle by 13.
Derrick Walker led the Lions with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rob Riley finished with 22 points and 3 steals. Caleb Parsons added 10 points. Tim Fortenberry and Carrin Nash recorded 7 points apiece. Nash also had 8 rebounds.
The Lions are now 14-15 overall. They play again today, Friday, against Point University. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00pm ET. The AAC Tournament is being held at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
