The Bryan College men's basketball team competed against the Tennessee Wesleyan College Bulldogs in the AAC Tournament Championship. The Lions lost by a final score of 75-68. Robert Troino and Derrick Walker were named to All-Tournament Team.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-2 lead to start the game. The Bulldogs came back and tied the game at 17-17 with 9:34 left in the half. For the remainder of the half, the Lions would build up a five point lead followed by Wesleyan tying the game or taking a one point lead. The half ended with the Lions leading by five points, 39-34. In the second half, the No. 1 seeded team began to take control. They took a 52-49 lead with 12:46 left and remained in command the rest of the game. TWC built their lead up to as many as 13 points. The Lions cut the lead down to six points, 71-65, with 27 seconds left, but the Bulldogs followed that by making four consecutive free throws over their next two possessions. The Lions hit a three-pointer at the close of the game to get the final score.
The Lions shot 42.9% from the floor for the game, while the Bulldogs shot 44.1%. Bryan won the rebounding battle by 15.
Derrick Walker led the Lions as he had his third consecutive double-double. He was the game's leading scorer with 20 points and leading rebounder with 10 boards. Robert Troino finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Brandon Cole recorded 9 points and 6 rebounds. Rob Riley had a team high 5 steals to go with his 5 points and 6 rebounds. Tim Fortenberry and Carrin Nash added 5 points apiece. Nash also had 6 rebounds, while Fortenberry had 5.
The Lions end the season with an overall record of 15-16.
