The Bryan College baseball team traveled to Bristol, Va., to take on the Cobras of Virginia Intermont College. The Cobras scored two runs in both the first and second innings and then added another in the third. The Lions scored four runs in the fifth inning to get within one. However, they gave one back in the bottom of the inning. Bryan was unable to score any more runs and lost 6-4.
Tyler Carroll led the offense with two runs batted in and two hits. Grant Zawadzki finished with one RBI, one hit, and one run scored. Joey Underwood recorded two hits and one run scored. Jess Cartner added two hits.
John Cain started on the mound for the Lions and received the loss. He recorded four innings of work, giving up six runs, four earned, on eight hits. Hunter Tipton came in to pitch in the fifth inning with two runners on and recorded two inning of work. He struck out two batters and held the opponent scoreless and hitless.
The Lions are now 11-5 overall. They play again today, Monday, at Virginia Intermont College. The single 9-inning game is scheduled to start at 1:00pm ET, and they will play the other 7-inning game immediately after.
