The Bryan College baseball team hosted the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday evening. The Lions scored a run in the first inning to take the early lead. The Wildcats tied the game in the fifth inning. Bryan crossed the plate twice in the seventh inning, but then gave up three in the eighth inning. The Lions lost by a final score of 4-3.
Kevin Layne led the team in RBIs with two off of his single in the seventh inning. Jess Cartner had the team's other RBI to go with his two hits. Grant Zawadzki finished with two hits and one run scored. Tyler Latham and Andrew Smith added one hit apiece.
John Cain started on the mound for the Lions. He gave up one unearned run and four hits in five innings of work. Josh Harris pitched the 6th and 7th innings, holding the opponent hitless and scoreless. Hunter Tipton started the 8th inning. He gave up three runs and two hits. Dylan Culver came in and recorded two innings of work. He gave up just one hit and no runs.
The Lions are now 11-8 overall. They play again this weekend in a three-game conference series at home against Montreat College. The single 9-inning game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET on Friday, and the doubleheader will start at 1:00pm ET on Saturday.
