The Bryan College baseball team hosted Oakwood University on Wednesday evening. The Lions won game one 21-0 in five innings and game two 19-0 in five innings. They are now 20-16 on the season.
In game one, the Lions scored a season high 21 runs. They scored just one run in the first inning. The Lions scored 12 runs in the second, the only inning this season that they have scored double-digits. They added five more in the third, including a grand slam by Tyler Latham, and three more in the fourth.
Tyler Latham had a game high six RBIs, tying his career high, to go with his one hit and one run scored. His last two hits have been grand slams. Tyler Carroll finished with three hits, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Crandon Wallace recorded two hits, three RBIs, and one run scored. Gatlin Curlee and Chris Jeffries added one hit, two RBIs, and two runs scored apiece. Zach Hensley tallied two hits, one RBI, and three runs scored. Lucas Jolley had two RBIs, and Colton Roberts had one. Kevin Layne notched one hit and two runs scored.
John Cain started on the mound for the Lions and received the win. He struck out seven batters and gave up four hits in three innings of work. Zach Duncan pitched the final two innings. He struck out two batters and gave up just one hit.
In game two, the Lions scored their second highest number of runs in a game with 19. They started out with nine runs in their first at-bat. The offense then added six more in the second and four in the fourth.
Hunter Tipton led the offense with three hits, four RBIs, and one run scored. Gatlin Curlee and Grant Zawadzki tallied two hits and three RBIs apiece. Zawadzki scored two runs, and Curlee scored one. Preston King and Andrew Smith had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored each. Zach Hensley added one hit, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Lucas Jolley and Crandon Wallace notched one hit and one RBI apiece. Wallace scored one run. Tyler Carroll had one RBI and scored three runs. Cody Rhinehart recorded one hit and one run scored.
Josh Harris started on the mound and earned the win. He struck out eight of the nine batters that he faced and gave up no hits. Brannon Shortt threw the fourth inning. He struck out one batter and got two batters to ground out. Colton Madison pitched the fifth inning and gave up just one hit while striking out three batters.
The Lions play again this weekend in a three-game series at home verse Hiwassee College. The single nine-inning game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET on Friday. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00pm ET on Saturday.
