The Bryan College baseball team traveled down to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete against Tennessee Temple University at AT&T Field. The Lions won the game 13-4. Bryan is now 26-23 on the season.
The Lions got on the scoreboard first with a run in their first at-bat. The Crusaders tied the game in the third inning. Bryan then scored two in the fourth, four in the sixth, two in the eighth, and four in the ninth inning to take a commanding lead. Temple scored three runs in the ninth to conclude the scoring.
Cody Rhinehart led the offense with five hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Grant Zawadzki finished with three hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Blake Johnson recorded one hit and three RBIs. Josh Harris, Kevin Layne, and Hunter Tipton had two hits and one RBI. Layne scored two runs, while Harris and Tipton scored once. Joey Underwood added one hit.
John Cain started on the mound for the Lions and earned the win. He gave up one run and two hits while striking out four batters in six innings of work. Joey Vega threw the next three innings and gave up no runs or hits. Zach Duncan pitched the final inning. He gave up three runs and three hits.
The Lions play again today, Tuesday, at home verse Tennessee Temple University. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm ET.
