The Bryan College baseball team competed against Union College in the AAC Tournament on Tuesday evening. The Lions entered the game as the No. 7 seed while the Bulldogs were the No. 2 seed. Bryan lost the game by a final score of 9-4. The Lions are now 29-25 overall.
Union scored three runs in their first at-bat. Bryan scored one run in the bottom of the inning. The Bulldogs scored three in the fourth inning to extend their lead. The Lions crossed the plate once in the fifth and twice in the sixth. Union added three more in the eighth inning to conclude the scoring.
Cody Rhinehart led the offense with two hits and one RBI. Blake Johnson and Joey Underwood finished with one hit and one RBI apiece. Johnson also scored a run. Kevin Layne tallied two hits and one run scored. Josh Harris and Grant Zawadzki recorded one hit and one run scored each. Chris Jeffries and Andrew Smith added one hit apiece.
Tristan Speak started on the mound and received the loss. He gave up six runs and seven hits in three and two-thirds innings of work. Kevin Carr pitched the next three and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs and three hits. Joey Vega finished the eighth and gave up one hit. Isaac Meyers threw the ninth inning and gave up a hit.
The Lions will now face No. 3 St. Andrews University today, Wednesday, at 11:00am ET.
