The Bryan College baseball team competed against St. Andrews University in the AAC Tournament on Wednesday morning. The Lions entered the game as the No. 7 seed while the Knights were the No. 3 seed. Bryan won the game by a final score of 5-2. The Lions are now 30-25 overall.
St. Andrews scored a run in the first inning to take the early lead. Bryan scored all five of their runs, including a grand slam by Josh Harris, in the third inning. The Knights added another run in the fourth inning to conclude the scoring.
Josh Harris led the offense with two hits, four RBIs, and one run scored. Andrew Smith finished with one hit and one RBI. Zach Hensley, Kevin Layne, and Joey Underwood recorded one hit and one run scored apiece. Blake Johnson and Cody Rhinehart added one hit each. Chris Jeffries scored a run.
Kenny Knudsen was the starting pitcher and earned the win. He gave up two runs, one earned, and five hits in six innings of work. Isaac Meyers threw the next two innings and gave up just one hit. Joey Vega pitched the ninth inning and earned the save. He held the opponent hitless.
The Lions will play again tomorrow at 11:00am ET against the loser of the game between No. 2 Union College and No. 6 Virginia Intermont.
