The Bryan College basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Tate Parton and Cory Valentine. The two were teammates at Cosby High School in Cosby, Tenn. They helped lead their team to a 19-10 record this past season and a District 2A Championship.
Parton is a 6'4" post player. He averaged 11.5 points per game on 67% shooting from the field, 8.8 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game. Parton was named the regular season District MVP and made the All-District Tournament Team.
Parton stated, "I am looking forward to going to Bryan. It is a good fit for me. The people there make me feel welcome both on and off the court."
Bryan Head Coach Don Rekoske said, "Tate is a rugged big guy, who could get some playing time as a freshman. I like his footwork, and he is sound fundamentally."
Valentine is a 5'10" guard. He averaged 15.3 points per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 3.4 steals per game. His was selected as the Best Offensive Player on the team and the team's MVP. Valentine was chosen as the District Tournament MVP.
Valentine commented, "I am happy that Tate and I can play together, and it is a dream come true to play college basketball."
Coach Rekoske remarked," Cory is a tough, skilled player who should be able to play both the 1 or 2 spot at Bryan."
