The Bryan College men's basketball team opened their season tonight at home against the Crusaders of Tennessee Temple University. The Lions took an early four point lead. However, the Crusaders fought back and led by as many as 9 points in the first half. The two teams went into the break with the score 32-27 in favor of the visiting team. Temple scored the first 8 points of the second half and was able to hold the lead the entire second half. Bryan cut the lead down to 7 point, 59-52, with just under four minutes remaining, but the Crusaders closed the game on an 11-2 run to win by a final score of 70-54.
The Lions shot 31.6% from the floor for the game, while the Crusaders shot 42.6%. Bryan lost the rebounding battle by 3. Both teams finished with 22 turnovers.
Brandon Cole led the Lions with 24 pints and 6 rebounds. Alan Holt added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Caleb Tuck recorded 8 points and 5 rebounds. Jeff Long had a team high 4 assists, and Trent McLaurin had a game high 5 steals.
The Lions play again on Wednesday at home verse Hiwassee College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.
