The Bryan College men's basketball team hosted Saint Thomas University tonight. The Bobcats are currently ranked No. 14. The Lions put up a tough battle as they were protecting their home court. However, the Bobcats were able to pull off a 73-58 win. The Bryan men are now 0-3 on the season.
The Lions were able to hit two three-pointers to take an early 6-2 lead. The Bobcats then went on a 9-1 run to go ahead 11-7. Bryan scored the next four points to tie the game. St. Thomas knocked down the next three points to take the lead and would never relinquish it. They led by as many as 11 points in the first half. The Lions were able to cut into the lead and trailed 35-30 at the break.
For the majority of the second half, Bryan's deficit fluctuated between 8-13 points. In the closing minutes, the Bobcats hit several free throws to build their lead up to 16 and were able to hang on to win by 15 points.
The Lions shot 29.2% from the floor for the game, while the Bobcats shot 45.1%. Bryan won the rebounding battle by 14. The Lions ended the game with 24 turnovers, while the Bobcats had 15.
Brandon Cole led the Lions with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Jeff Long finished with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Alan Holt recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds. Robert Troino ended with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Hunter Chastain and Logan Sharp added 6 points apiece.
The Lions play again on Saturday at home verse Dalton State College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm ET.
