The Bryan College women's volleyball team won the AAC Tournament for the second year in a row. The Lions swept the Bulldogs of Union College (25-20, 25-11, and 25-11). Carolyn Evans, Taylor Fink, and Kara Stamper were named to the All-Tournament Team. Evans was the tournament's Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row.
Kara Stamper and Carolyn Evans led the offense with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Evans hit and impressive .588 for the match. Chelsea Breaden notched 8 kills. Taylor Fink tallied 35 assists. Corrie Walker had a team high 8 digs. Fink and Stamper finished with 5 digs apiece.
Bryan Head Coach David Shumaker commented, "Although tonight's win was a total team effort, our four seniors really set the pace for us. Corrie Walker and Rebecca Stroup (Adams) really anchored our defense while Chelsea Breaden and Carolyn Evans set the pace for our offense. To beat a conference rival like Union in three sets on a neutral court is extremely hard to do. But, to do so with the scores that we did shows that this team came to the tournament to accomplish something special. I couldn't be more proud of this team."
The Bryan volleyball team is now 33-3 overall. They will play again on Saturday, November 23. The 24-team pairings for the Volleyball National Championship Opening Round will be announced on Nov. 18 at 1:00pm ET.
