The Bryan College men's basketball team traveled to Maryville College to take on the Scotts this afternoon. The Lions scored the first basket of the game and never trailed in the first half as they took a 37-31 lead into halftime. The Scots fought back in the second half and led for a while, but the Lions didn't quit. Jeff Long hit two free throws with just under a minute remaining in the game to give the Lions a 72-70 lead. The Bryan men stepped upped their defense and did not let the Scots get another point to hold on to that score for the win. The Lions are now 3-5 on the season.
Brandon Cole led the Lions with 34 points and 15 rebounds. Jeff Long finished with 16 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Alan Holt recorded 10 points and 9 rebounds. Robert Troino added 9 points apiece.
Bryan shot 48.2% from the floor for the game, while Maryville shot 34.3%. Bryan won the battle on the boards by 7, but lost the turnover battle by 9.
The Lions play again on Tuesday in a conference game at home verse Point University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.
