The Bryan College men's basketball team hosted Maryville College tonight. The Lions controlled the majority of the game. The Scots had just a one point lead once in each half. Bryan hit their final three free throws to win by a final score of 76-73. The Lions are now 6-8 on the season.
The Lions jumped out to an early 9-2 lead. They built the lead up to nine points a couple of times, but the Scots went on a 12-2 run to take their only lead of the first half, 25-24. Bryan responded with a 7-0 run of to regain the lead. The Lions took a 31-27 advantage into the break.
Bryan quickly built their lead up to 10 early in the second half. However, Maryville scored the next five points to cut it right back down. The Scots tied the score at 46 with 13 minutes remaining in the game. The Lions went on a 7-0 run to take the lead back, but the Scots followed it with a 10-2 run to take their only lead of the second half. Bryan scored the next five points to take control of the scoreboard for good. Maryville hit a three-pointer 11 seconds remaining on the clock to get within one point. The Lions hit two free throws to go ahead three points, and Scots missed an attempt to tie the game at the buzzer.
Brandon Cole led the Lions with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Robert Troino finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Bryan Landers recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds. Terrell Maryland added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Logan Sharp notched 5 points and 5 assists.
Bryan shot 51.7% from the floor for the game, while Maryville shot 40.8%. The Lions won the battle on the boards by 2 but lost the turnover battle by 4.
The Lions play again Thursday at home verse Milligan College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.
