The Bryan College men's basketball team hosted Reinhardt University this evening. The Lions built up a big lead in the first half but were unable to hold onto to it as the Eagles closed the gap in the first ten minutes of the second half. The game was very tight down the stretch as there were four lead changes in the final seven and a half minutes of the game. Bryan led by three with one minute remaining in the game. The Eagles hit two free throws to cut the lead down to one and then hit one of two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to tie the game. The Lions came down the floor, worked the ball into the post, and earned two free throws with 1.4 seconds remaining on the clock. Unfortunately, both free throws fell short. However, Derrick Walker was able to grab the rebound on the second attempt and bank in a shot at the buzzer to give Bryan the 74-72 win. The Lions are now 13-10 overall and 8-4 in the AAC.
Robert Troino led the Lions in scoring with 24 points. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and two steals. Brandon Cole finished with 22 points and a game high 15 rebounds for his 14th double-double on the season. Logan Sharp added 12 points and 3 assists. Derrick Walker grabbed 11 rebounds to go with his 4 points and 3 assists. Caleb Tuck had 8 points.
Bryan shot 43.6% from the floor. The defense held Reinhardt to just 19.5% in the first half and 30.4% for the game. The Lions won the battle on the boards 48-45. Bryan finished with 18 turnovers for the game; Reinhardt had 11.
The Lions play again on Monday at Point University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.
