The Bryan College baseball team played a double-header today at home against Toccoa Falls College. After defeating the Eagles last night in their season opener, the Lions struggled today as they lost both games. The baseball team is now 1-2 on the season.
In game one, the Lions scored five runs in the first inning to take a big lead. They added two more in the second inning. However, they gave up four runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh to lose 11-7.
Hunter Tipton led the offense with three runs batted in and two hits. Crandon Wallace finished with two RBIs and two hits. Tyler Latham recorded three hits and one RBI. Justin Morhardt tallied two hits and an RBI. Brookes Jones, Cody Rhinehart, and Grant Zawadzki had one hit apiece. Rhinehart scored twice, and Zawadzki scored once.
Tristan Speak started on the mound. He gave up four runs and four hits in three innings of work. Travis Moore pitched the next two and one-third innings and received the loss. He gave up four runs and four hits. Chad Burrows finished the sixth inning and started the seventh inning. He gave up one hit and one run. Isaac Meyers came in during the seventh to get all three outs. He gave up two runs and one hit.
In game two, the Lions once again scored first as they crossed the plate twice in the first inning. However, they gave up four runs in the third and five runs in the sixth inning to lose 9-2.
Justin Morhardt knocked in both runs with his one hit. Cody Rhinehart finished with two hits and a run scored. Tyler Latham recorded one hit and one run scored. Garrison Price added two hits, and Preston King had one.
John Cain started on the mound and received the loss. He gave up four runs and four hits in five innings of work. Kyle Paulson pitched a third of an inning, giving up three runs. Hunter Lamoureux threw the final one and two-thirds innings. He gave up two runs, one earned, and one hit.
The Lions play again on Friday at home against University of Rio Grande. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00pm ET.
