Dayton, TN - Justin McCarty signed a letter of intent today to play baseball for Bryan College. He is a 6'2" high school senior from Louisville, KY. His parents are Mark and Debbie McCarty.
Justin currently plays high school baseball for Coach John Morris of the Eastern High School Eagles in Louisville. He is a 3-year starter and a team captain. He was also second on his team last year in homeruns and runs batted in, behind a senior who is now playing for the University of Cincinnati. The Eagles were 33-6 last year and are a highly competitive team in the state of Kentucky. They were ranked in the state's top 10 throughout the entire season and finished at #5 in the state ranking.
At his signing, McCarty said that he chose Bryan because he really liked the school when he came to visit. He commented, "They have a good business program, they are a Christian school, and I like Coach Hasty. I like the field at Bryan and they play against good competition." Justin's dad Mark said, "We visited more than 10 schools and we really like Bryan. The people are open and honest, and we really like the relationships that the staff has with the students."
Bryan College Head Coach Taylor Hasty said that Justin is a solid player and a mature young man. "He will fit in well with our program, and he will be competing for playing time as a freshman in the outfield with his speed and quick hands at the plate. We are excited to have Justin join our program," commented Coach Hasty on Justin's signing.
McCarty has a 3.9 GPA and made a 25 on his ACT. He is also a Dean's Scholarship finalist. During his time at Bryan he plans to major in Business.
