Brandon Cole was named the AAC's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this season. The 6'2 sophomore from Crossville, Tenn., received this honor for his performances on the court February 17-23. Cole recorded three double-doubles on the week as he averaged 36.3 point per game and 16 rebounds. Against Montreat, he scored a career high 40 points and grabbed a career high 23 rebounds. Against Truett, Cole scored a basket and hit the free for a three point play with 3.3 seconds left in the game to give the Lions the one point win.
Cole leads the conference in scoring, rebounds, rebounds per game, offensive rebounds per game, defensive rebounds per game, and double-doubles. On the national level, Cole is currently No. 1 in total rebounds per game (12.138), No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game (4.552), No. 1 in double-doubles (20), No. 2 in total rebounds (352), No. 3 in defensive rebounds per game (7.586), No. 4 in total scoring (757), and No. 6 in points per game (26.103).
Cole will look to help lead the Lions in the AAC Conference Tournament. They will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 Milligan College on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:15am ET.
