The Appalachian Athletic Conference released the 2013-2014 men's basketball regular season award winners. Brandon Cole and Derrick Walker received individual honors. Two Lions made the All-Academic Team.
Cole was voted to the AAC All-Conference First Team. The 6'2" forward from Crossville, Tenn., started every game for the Lions and averaged 37 minutes per game. Cole was named the AAC Player of the Week on five occasions. He led the conference in scoring (757), rebounds (352), rebounds per game (12.14), offensive rebounds per game (4.55), defensive rebounds per game (7.59), and double-doubles (20).
Walker was selected to the AAC All-Defensive Team. The 6'5" senior forward from Covington, Tenn., played just the second semester. Walker led the Lions in steals per game (1.86). He was second in total rebounds (141), rebounds per game (10.07), assists per game (2.57), total steals (26), and double-doubles (7). Walker was third on the team in total points (172) and points per game (12.29)
Brandon Cole and Caleb Parsons made the Academic All-Conference Team. In order to qualify for the Academic Team the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
