The Bryan College baseball team hosted a doubleheader against Truett-McConnell College today. The Lions won the single nine-inning game last night and then today won game one 3-1 and game two 12-1 to complete the sweep. The baseball team is now 10-9 overall and 3-0 in the AAC.
The Lions offense struck first in game one as they scored a run in the second inning. They added another run in the fourth inning. Justin Morhardt hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning. The Bears scored their runin the seventh inning.
Justin Morhardt hit a homerun for the second game in a row. He ended the game with one run batted in, one hit, and one run scored. Preston King recorded one RBI and one hit. Grant Zawadzki tallied two hits and two runs scored. Cody Rhinehart finished with two hits. Kevin Roberts added one hit.
Tristan Speak started on the mound and pitched all seven innings to earn the win. He gave up just one unearned run and six hits while striking out four batters.
In game two, the Lions jumped up big early by scoring three runs in the first inning and then three more in the third inning. Both teams crossed the plate once in the fourth inning. Bryan added five more runs in the fifth inning to conclude the scoring.
Justin Morhardt led the offense again as he hit another homerun, one in each game of the series. He ended the game with four runs batted in, three hits, and two runs scored. Preston King finished with three RBIs, two hits, and two runs scored. He hit his second homerun of the series. Cody Rhinehart went four for four from the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. Tyler Latham recorded three hits, one RBI, and one run scored. Joey Underwood tallied one hit and two runs scored. Kevin Roberts and Crandon Wallace had one hit and one run scored apiece. Hunter Tipton added one hit.
Hunter Lamoureux started on the mound and earned the win. He gave up one run and three hits in four innings of work. John Cain pitched the final three innings. He struck out three batters and did not give up a hit.
The Lions play again Tuesday at Cumberland University. The single nine-inning game is scheduled to start at 2:00pm ET.
