The Bryan College baseball team competed in a doubleheader against No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan College today. The Lions won the single nine-inning game last night. Today they won game one 3-2 and lost game two 4-3. The baseball team is now 20-13 overall and 8-4 in the AAC.
In game one, the Lions scored a run in their first at-bat. They added another run in the third inning. Bryan added another run in the fifth off of a solo homerun by Tyler Latham. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the seventh inning to make the game interesting, but the Lions were able to hold on for the win.
Tyler Latham and Grant Zawadzki led the offense with one run batted in, two hits, and one run scored apiece. Hunter Tipton finished with one RBI and one hit. Kevin Roberts tallied two hits and one run scored. Justin Morhardt added one hit.
Hunter Tipton started on the mound and earned the win. He gave up two runs and four hits in six and one-third innings of work. Kenny Knudsen came in and closed out the seventh to earn the save. He gave up two hits.
In game two, both teams crossed the plate twice in the first inning. The Bulldogs scored a run in the second inning to take the lead. The Lions tied the game in the seventh inning, but gave up a run in the bottom of the inning to lose by a run.
Grant Zawadzki led the offense with three RBIs and one hit. Tyler Latham recorded two hits and one run scored. Cody Rhinehart and Kevin Roberts finished with one hit and one run scored apiece. Preston King, Joey Underwood, and Crandon Wallace added one hit each.
Tristan Speak pitched the entire game for the Lions and received the loss. He gave up four runs and eight hits.
The Lions play again Tuesday at home against Emmanuel College. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3:00pm ET.
