The Lions opened their season splitting a doubleheader with Emmanuel College. The games were also the Head Coaching debut for Bryan's Taylor Hasty.

The first game took extra innings to determine a winner. The Lions scored first and then Emmanuel tied the game. It went the same way for each team's 2nd and 3rd runs. With the score tied at 3 after 7 innings they had to go into an 8th inning. The Lions scored 2 runs in the top of the
8th. Unfortunately, Emmanuel hit a 3-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the inning for the win.
The Lions hitting was spread out, with Jonathan Brown being the only Lion to get two hits. The
Lions' pitching did not give up 2 hits to any one player for Emmanuel. Both teams left 7 runners
stranded on base.

Bryan's starting pitcher, Mark Barnwell, pitched 4.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on just 3 hits, and he tallied 3 strikeouts. Ben Young came in for the last 2.2 innings. He also gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. Young had 2 strikeouts and did not walk a single batter.

The second game belonged to Bryan. Again, the Lions scored in the 1st inning to take the lead. Emmanuel scored in the 3rd to tie the game, and then again in the 4thto take the lead. The Lions scored 3 runs in the 5th inning to take back control, and then added another in the 6th.

The Lions tacked up 10 hits for the game. Ryan Henn and Jonathan Brown each had 2 hits. The Lions left 9 runners stranded on base for the game.

Zach Breazeale started on the mound for the Lions. He pitched a complete game. Breazeale only gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He tallied 5 strikeouts for the game and only walked 1 batter.

The Lions are now 1-1 overall. They play again on Friday inthe first of a three-game series this weekend at Brewton-Parker. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
