The Bryan College baseball team played a single nine-inning game at Lee University today. The Flames scored three runs in the second inning and two in the third to jump out to a big lead. The Lions crossed the plate two times in the fifth inning and once in the sixth to cut into the lead. Lee added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Bryan scored their final run in the eighth inning to fall by a final score of 8-4. The baseball team is now 26-20 on the season.
Kelvin McMiller finished the game with one run batted in, one hit, and one run scored. Tyler Latham and Kevin Robers recorded one RBI and one hit apiece. Joey Underwood logged one RBI and one run scored. Crandon Wallace had a team high two hits and two runs scored. Preston King and Cody Rhinehart added one hit apiece.
Kyle Paulson started on the mound and received the loss. He gave up five runs, four earned, and four hits in three innings of work. Chad Burrows pitched the fourth inning. He did not give up a hit or a run. Ian Andrews threw the next two innings. He gave up three runs and two hits. Brannon Shortt pitched the seventh inning. He gave up one hit and struck out one batter. Jared Breazeale began the eighth inning and was able to get two outs without giving up a hit. John Cain came in and was able to get the one batter that he faced out to end the eighth.
The Lions play again on Friday at Union College. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00pm ET.
