The Bryan College baseball played a doubleheader at Union College today. The Lions lost game one 6-5 and game two 3-1. The baseball team is now 26-22 overall and 12-11 in the AAC.
In game one, both teams scored three runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the second. The Lions scored a run in the fourth inning off of a solo homerun by Justin Morhardt. Bryan tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. However, Union scored a run in the bottom of the inning to win the game.
Cody Rhinehart led the offense with three runs batted in and one hit. Justin Morhardt and Grant Zawadzki finished with one RBI, two hits, and one run scored. Preston King recorded two hits and two runs scored. Tyler Latham, Kelvin McMiller, and Kevin Roberts added one hit apiece. John Cain scored one run.
LJ Rowden started on the mound for the Lions. He gave up five runs and seven hits in an inning of work. Jared Breazeale pitched the next four and two-thirds innings. He gave up four hits. John Cain pitched the last two-thirds of an inning and received the loss. He gave up one run and two hits.
In game two, the Bulldogs took the early lead by scoring a run in the first inning. The Lions tied the game in the second inning. Union took the lead back with a run in the third inning and then added an insurance run in the sixth.
Chad Burrows pitched all six innings for the Lions and received the loss. He gave up three runs, two earned, and six hits.
The Lions play again on tomorrow at Union College. The single nine-inning game is scheduled to start at 1:00pm ET.
