The Bryan College baseball team competed against Tennessee Wesleyan College again tonight in the AAC Tournament. The Lions are the No. 5 seed in the tournament, while the Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed. Bryan defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 26-3 last night, but the Bulldogs defeated the Lions tonight by a final score of 11-7. The two teams will now face each other again tomorrow for the opportunity to play in the AAC championship game and earn one of the conference's automatic qualifiers for the NAIA national tournament.
Tennessee Wesleyan jumped out on top with seven runs in their first at-bat. Bryan scored four runs in the fourth inning to cut into the lead. The Bulldogs matched the four runs in the bottom of the inning. The Lions crossed the plate three times in the seventh inning to conclude the scoring.
Joey Underwood led the offense with one run batted in and two hits. Tyler Latham finished with one RBI, one hit, and one run scored. Grant Zawadzki recorded one RBI and one hit. Kelvin McMiller tallied one RBI and two runs scored. Justin Morhardt, Cody Rhinehart, and Crandon Wallace logged one hit and one run scored apiece. Preston King added one hit. Kevin Roberts scored one run.
Jared Breazeale started on the mound for the Lions and received the loss. He gave up five runs, four earned, and two hits before getting an out. Tristan Speak got the call to the mound next. He gave up six runs, four earned, and two hits in three and two-thirds innings of work. John Cain pitched the next four and one-third innings. He gave up five hits but no runs.
The baseball team is now 31-25 on the season. They will compete against Tennessee Wesleyan at 2:00pm. The tournament is being held at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn. Click here to follow the tournament.
