Siler City, NC - Josh Harris signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Bryan College on Friday. He is 6'4", 200 lb. right hander. He currently plays for Coach Jimmy Warfford at Jordan-Mathews High School.

Josh is the son of Michael and Judy Harris. His parents said they are pleased with Josh's selection of Bryan due to the good academics of the college, which will challenge him and prepare him for the future. As for the baseball program they said, "We see Coach Hasty assembling a good solid baseball program with goals established and a desire to win."

In his Junior year Harris was selected runner-up for Player of the Year in his conference. He hit .424 while scoring 22 runs and having 24 runs batted in. On the mound, he compiled an 8-2 record with a 1.17 era. In his 62 innings of work he tallied a total of 74 strikeouts. His coach says that he always has one of the best attitudes toward life as a whole, which comes from his parents. "Josh is a very intense athlete and will do as the coach asks. He will be a great asset to Bryan College. I wish him the best in all that he does in the future," commented Coach Warfford at Josh's signing.

At Bryan, Josh will play 1st base and will pitch. Bryan Head Coach Taylor Hasty said that Josh is a solid young man that is committed to excellence in all parts of life, which will serve him well at the college level. "He will be a great two-way player that will have a chance to have an impact as a freshman for us. He is well coached and has solid baseball foundation in which to be successful at the college level," said Coach Hasty.

Josh said he liked Bryan and chose them for several reasons. He said the school and the area around it are a lot like where he lives now. As to baseball he says, "I like the coaches, and I believe that the program is heading in the right direction."

Josh currently has a 4.2 grade point average and is a Dean's Scholarship Participant. As of right now, he is undecided on what he will major in while attending Bryan College.
