Dayton, Tenn. – The Bryan College Golf Team is pleased to announce the signing of another top junior college player from Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY, Helen Busch. Busch became the first female golfer in GCC history to sign with a four-year college.
Along with qualifying to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament in 2015, she also received medalist honors in three events during the 2014-15 season. Two notable outings include when she medaled in the Panther Golf Invitational and Niagara Thunder Women's Invitational last year. She fired a season-low 83 at the Tompkins-Cortland Country Club Invite on Apr. 26 and shot an average round of 93 for the year.
In addition to golf, Busch is a member of the Dean's list fall of 2015 and is Vice President of the Leads Committee at GCC for "Leaders in Education."
She has also served as a volunteer with several community outreaches serving as a Youth Mentor Golf Coach for First Tee and the Buffalo Inner City Youth Program. She was active in several sports in high school besides golf including bowling, track, and gymnastics.
During her time here at Bryan, she plans on studying Biology.
"We are thrilled to get an athlete of Helen's caliber who has been strong on the course and has been extremely active in her school and her community," remarked Head Bryan Golf Coach, Peter Bollant. "We want girls who want to be leaders and want to change the world. We are excited to have Helen as part of the Bryan College family."
