Bryan 14, Union 18
The Lions played host to the Bulldogs of Union College yesterday in a make-up game. The game was going to be over after 7 innings, as the Lions were down 1-13 going into the bottom of the inning. However, they were able to score 4 runs on a grand slam by Matt Hicks to keep the game going. In the 8th inning, Bryan scored 6 runs to cut the deficit to 11-13. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs scored 5 runs in the top of the 9th making the Lions' 3 runs in the bottom of the inning not enough.
Bryan tallied 20 hits for the game. Will Newman led the way with 5 RBIs on 4 hits (2 homeruns). Jon Brown added 3 RBIs on 3 hits (1 homerun). Drew Brown, Matt Hicks (1 homerun), Doug Stroup, Michael Hogsett (1 homerun), Steven Brown, and Ryan Henn each had 2 hits apiece.
Brantley Hattrich was the starting and losing pitcher. He went 3 innings giving up 9 runs on 7 hits. Zach Gray came in and pitched the next 2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. Daniel Zimmerman saw the mound for the next 3 & 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits. Ben Young came in to get the last out in the 9th inning and gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
