Lawrenceburg, Tenn. – Freshman, Krista Reinhardt (FR/Valrico, Fla.) lipped out for an eagle and tapped in for birdie on the par 5 eighth hole at the 5,804 yard Lawrenceburg Country Club in the Redhawk Spring Invitational (Apr. 4-5) on route to a 79 that tied her for 4th place after Day 1. But it was fellow freshman, Megan Clarkson (FR/Greenback, Tenn.) who fired her personal best at 86 to put her in 15th place heading into Day 2. Christina Lee (SO/Loudon, Tenn.) notched a 90 to sit at 18th place, and Liz Albert landed in 38th place.
As Day 2 got underway, Reinhardt continued her solid play by adding three more birdies to set a new Bryan Lady Lion's record with seven birdies through 36 holes. She went on to shoot 77 (+79) =156 to finish in 3rd place in the Redhawk Invite, which was just three strokes out of the medalist position. Her impressive play led to her receiving All-Tournament Team honors. Lee finished with a new personal best through 36 holes to finish in 24th place.
"Overall, I was pleased with the performance of Krista," said Head Bryan Golf Coach, Peter Bollant. "Her seven birdies on 36 holes set a new team record, and she missed a couple of more she could have had. With a little work on chipping, I think she stands a good chance of capturing the conference title. She is really hitting the ball solid right now, and she made some amazing shots out there."
Bollant went on to mention, "I was also pleased with Megan's first day total and Christina's overall two day score. They have been putting a lot of hard work in the past two weeks. I'm proud of the way we are stepping up as a team. The girls are a close-knit group. It is a joy to see Krista doing so well, and it is great to see progress in the other players, but what pleases me the most is seeing what great young women these girls are becoming. Their hunger and passion for life, for the Lord, and His Word really shines through all of them. They are a joy to coach!"
The Lady Lions are back in action on Apr. 11-12 when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to tackle the Woodlands Country Club for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship.
