Dayton, Tenn. – Bryan College is pleased to announce the signing of Emily Hutson of Oneida High School (Tenn.) and Brandon Nolan of Soddy Daisy High School (Tenn.) to play golf for the Lions starting the fall of 2016.
Hutson was the first player in Oneida High School history to qualify for the TSSAA state championship. She was also part of the first high school team in the history of Oneida to bring home a district golf trophy. In addition to her golf accomplishments, Hutson has maintained a notable 3.79 GPA and is a member of the Beta Club. In her spare time she remains active in her church, community, and serves as a 4-year member of S.W.A.T (Students with a Testimony).
Head Bryan College Golf Coach, Peter Bollant commented, "Emily is a tremendous competitor who has brought honor to Oneida High School by setting school records. Her energetic and positive attitude makes her the type of athlete who is determined to compete at a high level. She adds considerable competitiveness to our team and will help make our team much stronger. In addition, Emily is the kind of player that deeply impacts those around her. She is a servant of Christ who wants to excel on the field of competition, in the classroom, and most importantly in life."
The new addition to the men's team, Brandon Nolan, was a varsity member of the Soddy Daisy team for four years, qualifying for regionals every season. His top senior year result came at the City Prep Tournament, which took place at Harrison Bay Bear Trace Course where his 2 under par (70) landed him in an impressive 4th place finish.
Nolan is an active member of Sequoyah Baptist Church and has been involved in ministry during his time there. "I am an only child and am very close to my parents," said Nolan. "I owe everything I am to my Savior and my parents. I am blessed to be a part of the Bryan Lions Golf team and look forward to the years ahead."
"Brandon has a great head on his shoulders and is an impressive individual," remarked Coach Bollant. "He is a tremendous golfer and will help improve the team in some needed areas of play. Brandon comes from a great family and that, combined with his outgoing personality and strong faith, will help him fit well at Bryan. Brandon is a difference maker, and we are excited to see what Christ has in store for him at Bryan."
