Waleska, Ga. – Junior Nick Scully (JR/Carelton, Mich.) led the Bryan Lions to their top performance of the year in the Reinhardt Invitational at Callahan Links in Waleska, Ga. Scully fired an even par 72 to sit in 3rd place, which was 4 strokes behind frontrunners Ben Dulin of Reinhardt and Floris Veth of Georgia Military College who both shot identical -4 for 68s. Scully's 72 followed by teammate's Tom Durbin (SR/Wildnes Chesire, England) 73, Brandon Noland at 74, and Paul Houk (SO/Athens, Tenn.) at 76 led to the Lion's best outing of the Fall 2016 season compiling a 295 to sit only 2 strokes out of the lead behind reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference champion Reinhardt University who recorded a 293 on their home course.
Bryan Head Coach, Peter Bollant commented, "This is an extremely important performance for our team as we head into the Fall AAC championship at Wasioto Winds (Ky.) next week. By contending with the reigning AAC champion on their home course, we have shown our potential to win the conference championship. I was really pleased with freshman Brandon Noland's 74 who injured his finger Saturday when the team was doing a work day for a local charity."
The Lions are wrapping up action on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to close out Day 2 of the Invitational.
