Bryan College hosted the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold onto it as the Patriots came back to win in the 10th inning.
Bryan took an early lead in the 1st inning off of a 2-run homerun from Matt Hicks. The Lions picked up another run in the 3rd, and then both teams went scoreless until the 8th when the Patriots scored 3 runs to tie the game. They then turned around and scored a run to take the lead in the top of the 9th. The Lions bats responded and scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. In the 10th, the Patriots hit a homerun to take the lead, but this time the Lions were unable to get a run to extend the game.
 
Bryan tallied a total of 10 hits for the game. Will Newman, Zach Bowe, and Doug Stroup each had 2 hits. Brantley Hattrich was the starting pitcher for the Lions and pitched 7 & 2/3 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits while walking only 1 batter and striking out 6. Zach Gray came in and pitched the next 2 & 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. He received the loss.

The Lions are now 6-42 overall. They play again this Friday and Saturday at Bryan in a 3-game series against Bluefield College. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM ET, and Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM ET. The series concludes regular season play for the Lions.
