With just two months left in the 2017 Cabela's School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia race, schools from across the nation are in pure competition mode, searching for every possible point they can earn to add to their total. As it stands right now, Bryan College remains in first place with a total of 1,942 points, followed by the University of North Alabama in second with 1,878 points, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in third with 1,800 points.
[The top-ranked Lions took advantage of the recent event on Lake Dardanelle, Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, with a 13th place finish adding to their School of the Year total. Unlike other events, the Open had a creative way of scoring where the top two boats from each school would be put together, making one team, and have the weight totaled for a final weight. It was the Fogg brothers, Connor and Chandler, and the duo of Nathan Bell (SR/Riceville, Tenn.) and Cole Sands (SO/Calhoun, Tenn.) who prevailed for Bryan, tallying 18.67lbs and 14.60lbs for a grand total of 33.27lbs. It was Murray State University who took the crown at the Open with the big fish of the tournament weighing 7.25lbs and two bags registering a whopping 47.92lbs.]
