ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Makena Giles (FR/Athens, Tenn.) and Polly Holt (SR/Knoxville, Tenn.) of Bryan College swept the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards, the league announced Monday.
This is the fourth edition of the weekly honors for the 2017 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Sept. 25.
AAC Offensive Player of the Week
Makena Giles - Bryan - Fr. - Athens, Tenn.
Had 6 goals and 2 assists on the week.
Recorded a hat trick in both of Bryan's wins on the week.
Had a hand in all 5 goals against Life (Ga.) with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Leads the Lions in total goals with 7.
Tied for 1st in conference in most scores.
Is the AAC leader in goals per game, averaging 1.4.
This is her first weekly award this season.
AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Polly Holt - Bryan - Sr. - Knoxville, Tenn.
Aided Lions' back line en route to a pair of wins on the week.
Helped Bryan set a program record for most goals in a single game and largest margin of victory in a 9-0 win over St. Andrews.
Netted first career goal and tallied first career assist in the dominating win over the Knights.
Helped hold opponents to only 2 goals on the week, including a shutout in the conference opener.
Limited St. Andrews to only 3 shots on the day and just one on-goal.
This is her first weekly honor this season.
