The Lady Lions won their opening game on Saturday afternoon. They defeated Cincinnati Christian University 2-1.

The teams were even throughout the first 45 minutes, with the score at halftime 0-0. The Lady Lions struck first, scoring about 65 minutes in as Kathryn DeRhodes found the back of the net off a corner kick from Carli Milligan. With the Lady Lions guard momentarily down, the Lady Eagles struck back immediately by driving down off the kickoff and neutralizing the score. With the score tied again, the Lady Lions battled hard and were able to score the winning goal in about the 75th minute as Lindsey Cresap placed the ball past the keeper off an assist from Liz Ponto.
"It's always good to win on the road. We were able to battle hard and pull out the win," said Head Coach Mark Sauve.
The Lady Lions play again on Friday and Saturday, the 4th and 5th of September. Both games will be played at Asbury College. On Friday night, the Lady Lions play Asbury College at 8:00 PM ET, and on Saturday they play Campbellsville University at 2:00 PM ET.
