The Bryan College men's cross country program started their season off in impressive fashion Saturday, when they won the Cavalier Kickoff Classic in Black Mountain, NC. The Lions took the first five spots on Montreat College's home course, which will also serve as the site for the AAC Championship on November 7.
Junior Zach Buffington (Ooltewah, TN) took the individual title, covering the four mile course in 21:34. Freshmen athletes Drew Thompson (Murfreesboro, TN), Jason McLeod (Ocoee, FL), and Alex Stephens(Cleveland, TN) claimed the second through fourth positions. Junior Josh Bradley(Ringgold, GA) rounded out the scoring for Bryan as he edged Montreat College's Wilbourn Kosgei, the 2008 AAC Cross Country individual champion.

"I thought we did a good job of continually pushing the intensity late in the race. Our freshmen have been impressive since they arrived on campus three weeks ago. I look forward to watching them progress this fall, as well as having a couple of our upper classmen back in the mix soon," said Head Coach Rodney Stoker.

The men will travel to Rome, GA, to compete in the Berry College Invitational on September 12.
