The opening meet of the season saw the Bryan College women's cross country program capture the title at the Cavalier Kickoff Classic in Black Mountain, NC. Racing on Montreat College's mountain campus, the women tallied 22 points.  Montreat will host the AAC Championship on the same course on November 7th.
Freshmen athletes led the way with second and third place finishes.  Liz Olsen (Glenville, NY) and Catherine Anderson (Maple Grove, MN) covered the five-kilometer layout in 20:26 and 20:29. Sophomores Ericka Simpson (Grayson, GA) and Alyssia Lindsay (Spring City, TN) finished fourth and sixth, while senior Bailey Payne finished seventh to complete the scoring for the Lions.

"Liz and Catherine are great additions to our program. It was Catherine's first cross country race in two years and I thought she ran exceptionally well. We are excited about the season ahead and look forward to Berry next weekend," stated Head Coach Rodney Stoker.

The Lions will compete at the Berry College Invitational on September 12th in Rome, GA.
