Rome, GA - The Lions raced to a seventh place finish Saturday morning at the Berry College Invitational. Led by freshman Liz Olsen and her 19th place finish (20:32, Glenville, NY), Bryan totaled 192 points in the 20-team field. Berry College played host and took the team title with 64 points to runner-up Shorter College's 76. The individual title belonged to Shorter's Justyna Mudy, as she covered the five-kilometer course in 18:31.
Olsen was followed by sophomore Ericka Simpson (Grayson, GA), who came home in the 26th spot at 20:56. Freshman Catherine Anderson (Maple Grove, MN) was 41st overall, while teammates Bailey Payne (Pikeville, TN) and Alyssia Lindsay (Spring City, TN) finished the scoring for the Lions with 52nd and 54th finishes respectively.
"Liz did a nice job of being aggressive early and I hope it is something all our ladies can build on in the coming weeks. We still have a lot to learn, but the girls are capable of running at a higher level. I'm proud that they stayed in and battled even when most were not at their best," commented Head Coach Rodney Stoker
The Lions will travel to Louisville, KY, for the Greater Louisville Classic on October 3.
