Bryan College played host to the Lady Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands last night. The Lady Lions fought hard and played well, but unfortunately they lost 2-1 in double overtime.
The Lady Lions struck first, scoring in the 47th minute. They were awarded a free kick about 25 yards out and to the right of the goal. Kaitlyn Bryant ripped a shot that went around the wall and into the upper corner of the near post to give Bryan a 1-0 lead. The Lady Patriots tied the match with about 12 minutes left to play in regulation, sending the game into overtime. Neither team was able to score in the first 10-minute overtime period, sending the match into the second and final overtime period. In just over a minute into the period, the 101st minute, the Lady Patriots scored to end the game.
The Lady Lions are now 5-7 overall and remain 2-2 in conference play. They start a run of their last three conference games this Saturday at Bluefield College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm ET.
