Bryan College Softball signs Jill Davis and Kirstie Jennings. The two are currently student-athletes at Meigs County High School. Davis and Jennings look forward to leading their high school team towards a championship season this spring in their senior year.
Bryan College Head Coach Rocky Stinson said he saw Davis as a strong defensive player suited to play second base or outfield. Davis hit .281 with 15 runs batted in and 4 stolen bases last season. "It's close to home and a good Christian school," Davis said. "It's a big weight off my shoulders."
Coach Stinson said Jennings will likely move from her catcher position at Meigs to the outfield for the Lady Lions, providing offense from both sides of the plate and speed the young program will need to be successful. Jennings hit .407 with 41 hits and 10 stolen bases last season. "It's close to home and since it's a new program I'll have the chance to try hard and play early," Jennings said. "I knew from the moment I left the campus it was where I wanted to go - I didn't have to think about it."
"I am excited about these two young ladies joining our softball program," commented Coach Stinson. "Not only are they very talented, but they are from the surrounding area. Also, they both fit the spiritual and academic foundation that we are trying to set."
Meigs County Head Coach Jeff Davis said seeing the two girls sign was a proud moment. "I've been around those two all of their lives. They're good students and good Christians. I expect them to do well both in the classroom and on the field." Coach Davis also commented that the two ladies are part of a senior class that has turned the Meigs County softball program around.
