Louisville, KY - Sophomore Ericka Simpson (Grayson, GA) led the Lady Lions to an 8th place finish in the Southeastern Classic over the weekend. Simpson was 37th in the 22-team field as she ran to her season best time of 20:22.04. The NAIA's 7th ranked Concordia University (CA) claimed the team title with 66 points. Shorter's Justyna Mudy was the individual champ in 17:18.
Freshman Liz Olsen (Glenville, NY) finished 32nd in 20:32.1 on the rain-softened course at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. Sophomore Alyssia Lindsay set a new personal best with her 47th place time of 20:45.1. Senior Bailey Payne was right on her heels at 20:46.7 and 49th overall. Rounding out the scoring for the ladies was freshman Catherine Anderson (Maple Grove, MN). Catherine finished 91st in 21:47.
"Our ladies continue to improve and we are excited about the conference championship. Alyssia and Bailey continue to close the gap on our top girls. Catherine had a rough day, but I was proud of her for continuing to battle for the team," commented Head Coach Rodney Stoker.
The Lions will travel to Black Mountain, NC, to compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship on November 7. The women are scheduled to compete at 10:45am ET.
