The Lions, finishing the season #2 in the AAC, hosted the #7 Rams of Bluefield College for the Quarterfinals of the AAC Tournament. The Lions defeated the Rams 3-2 in a very close match.
The Lions got on the scoreboard first after an own goal by Bluefield in the 18th minute. In under a minute after that, the Lions scored their second goal. This time Jacobo Gallardo scored off an assist form Richard Kirk. The Rams scored their first goal in the 21st minute to cut into the lead. In his first game back after missing several weeks for an injured ankle, Ricky Angel scored what came to be the winning goal off an assist from Joseph Jones in the 30th minute. Bluefield battled hard, adding another goal in the second half, but the Lions held them off the rest of the game to win 3-2. Goalkeeper Rodrigo Pigatto came up with three huge saves to hold the Rams at just 2 goals.
The Lions are now 9-7 overall. They will play again on Friday in an AAC Semifinal match against the #3 Bulldogs of Union College. The match will take place at Milligan College.
