Vaughn just finished her senior season for Coach Shane Ramsey at Northwest Whitfield. She started at second base for the Lady Bruins. Her team made it all the way to the Georgia Class 4A state semifinals. Vaughn made several key plays in the Lady Bruins' postseason run, including a diving stop late in the region championship to hold off any runs and a double in the second round of the state tournament to spark a 3-run rally.
Vaughn said that she chose Bryan because she liked the school's Christian values. She also likes the size of Dayton, and the thought of starting a new program. "Everyone there is nice. It's a great campus with beautiful facilities and they are building a brand new softball complex," commented Vaughn.
Bryan College Softball Coach Rocky Stinson said, "Katie will spend time at 2nd and behind the plate. She brings a great maturity to the field and plays with a passion not seen in many. Katie will be an asset on and off the field. I can definitely see Katie giving off a veteran appearance and stature on the field."
Vaughn plans on majoring in education during her time at Bryan.
