The Lady Lions went on the road Wednesday night to take on the Lady Cavs of UVA-Wise. Bryan gave up the most points they have given to an opponent all season, losing 64-78.

Bryan fell behind to start the game and was never able to catch back up. UVA-Wise built their lead up to 13 in the first half before going into the locker room ahead 36-27. In the second half, the Lady Lions were able to cut the deficit to 5 with 11:20 left to play, but that was as close as they would get.

The Lady Lions still followed suit as they dominated the glass and the free throw line. They outrebounded their opponent 43-22. Bryan made 12 free throws, while UVA-Wise only shot 9 attempts. However, the Lady Cavs hit ten 3-pointers for the game, making the biggest difference.

Bethany McArthur led Bryan with 16 points while dishing out 4 assists. Amber Smith and Jessica Southern both finished with double-doubles. Smith had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Southern had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Anna Thomas added 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Amber Carter led the Lady Cavs with 22 points, going 4/5 from beyond the 3-point arc.

"The Lady Cavs' Amber Carter was the difference on both offense and defense tonight. She set the tone and dominated the game in a major way. UVA-Wise was able to take us completely out of the game with their trapping defense. We also gambled that Carter would not hit perimeter shots. She certainly stepped up to the plate. She had made 6 all year and made 4 tonight. For us, Jessica Southern and Amber Smith really battled. As a team we competed, we just didn't take care of the ball and we gave up a few too many open shots to some of Wise's role players," commented Bryan Head Coach Jamy Bechler.

The Lady Lions are now 13-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference. They play again on Saturday at Reinhardt College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm ET.
