Last year's Team Play Days were a huge success, as nearly 30 teams played in the four play days. Teams came from as far away as Greeneville, TN, and as close as Rhea County. Teams ranged from AAA powers to small Christian high school teams; from Tennessee teams to Georgia teams; and from varsity teams to junior varsity teams.
The dates for this year's Team Play Days are June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12. Teams receive 3 games during the day, and each date is its own separate competition day.
Coach Bechler also provides a gift to the coaches and has a hospitality room that is stocked with a variety of food and drink for the coaches and officials.
"Last year this was a fun time for us", said Bechler, "We had a lot of top-notch talent and I got to spend a good deal of time with the different coaches. It is fun talking basketball and seeing firsthand how different coaches in the area prepare their teams and how they coach. We have actually expanded the Play Days this year. Last year, we did only 4 days, but a number of coaches requested Thursday dates as well for this year. The competition is pretty good and we try to meet most, if not all, of the coach's requests for game times and type of opponent that they want to play against."
Last year, there were a number of players that went on to sign Division I scholarships, as well as a couple of players that signed with Bryan College (Abigail Pippenger from Bradley Central and Jenna Ray from Kingston).
