The Bryan Lions hosted the Montreat Cavaliers on Saturday. The Lions' defense held Montreat to just under 40% shooting from the floor for the game, while their offense shot just over 50% to defeat the Cavaliers 70-60.
  

The Lions took the lead in the first half and never looked back. They went into halftime leading 36-29, their largest lead of the first half. In the second half, the Lions continued to separate themselves from their opponent. They built their lead up to 18 points, 63-46. The Cavaliers cut into the lead, but were unable to hold on for the 10-point victory.

The Lions scored 19 points off of turnovers in the game. They also made more free throws than their opponents even attempted.

Astral Guerrier led all scoring with 23 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Demond Craig finished with 12 points. Scott Newton and Derek Batt added 11 points apiece. The Lions' lead scorer for the year, Keith Bauer, did not play in the game due to an injury.

Matt Rushing led the Cavaliers with 20 points. He scored 16 of them in the first half.

The Lions are now 16-8 overall and 9-4 in the AAC. Bryan is now .5 games out of first place. They play again on Monday in the rescheduled game against Virginia Intermont College. The game will be played at Virginia High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00pm ET.
